Synopsis

Finance graduate, lecturer’s assistant and part-time taxi driver, KB is in an on again, off again relationship with slay queen Buhle.  She is demanding, high maintenance and costs him a fortune in slay queen debts.  His best friend, Spencer refers to her as Darth Vader because she forever seems to be calling KB over to the dark side.  Buhle is more of a status symbol than girlfriend to KB.

Kedibone is a bright, ambitious, and nerdish Architecture student.  Her good grades and obvious talent make her something of a lecturer’s pet. When she must complete a major assignment, she asks for an extension so that she has time to photograph various Pretoria landmarks for inclusion.  He declines her extension, and instead calls on KB to drive her around to the various landmarks.

KB and Kedibone get off to a very rocky start when he is late to fetch her and she then berates him for his tardiness, the fact that his car is not clean and that his attitude sucks.  He, in turn, thinks she is a spoiled snob and cannot wait to be free of her.

When Kedibone tells her flat mate, Tumi, about  how irritating she finds KB, Tumi grabs Kedibone’s phone and looks up his social media profile.  She then and sends KB a friend request, much to Kedibone’s annoyance.  KB’s flat mate sees Kedibone’s profile and friend request on KB’s phone, thinks she is cute and immediately accepts the request. This places KB in a very awkward situation.  He gingerly reaches out to Kedibone, and they start chatting.

During their trips to the various monuments, they continue to spar, but in so doing, better get to know one another.  KB slowly recognises that he has more in common with her than with any of the slay queens he has dated.  They have similar interests and KB discovers a new freedom and lightness when he is with Kedibone.  Despite themselves, they fall in love.

Returning to KB’s flat after a day out, they are confronted with an irate Buhle, who first insults and then dismisses Kedibone.  Instead of standing up to Buhle, KB remains silent and watches as Kedibone leaves.  Buhle reminds KB of how they are soul mates and that despite their regular break-ups, they always get back together, it is the nature of their relationship.  He finally realises that Buhle cannot offer him what he wants and ends their relationship.

In her anger at the way KB had lied to her, Kedibone smashes her laptop, making it impossible for her to complete her assignment on time.  It seems to her that her life has been destroyed. She had so much riding on this assignment because she would be presenting it to key industry players and, therefore,  stand a chance to launch her career with one of the city’s best agencies.

Guilt-ridden and desperate to make amends, KB types up Kedibone’s assignment from the notes she left in his car.  He submits them on time and goes one step further by approaching the CEO of the top agency and pleading with her to look at Kedibone’s portfolio.

Kedibone is totally taken aback when she receives a call from the agency asking her to come in for an interview.  She is even more blown away when her lecturer tells her how excellent her assignment is.  As these blessings rain down on her, she reaches out to KB, thanking him for saving the day and declaring her love for him.
